Haven't seen a chipmunk in ages. My mother and I used to hand-feed them peanuts, shell and all, on the windowsill.
Sometimes, when I was feeling evil, I'd hand the chipmunk three peanuts: he'd stuff one into the left cheek, one into the right -- and then couldn't quite figure out how to deal with the third one, with no cheek left for storage and the peanut too large to hold in his teeth. He'd take the peanut out of one cheek, put in the third peanut, but then was left with that peanut and no place to put it. Repeat with the peanut in the other cheek, but, no, that didn't help, either ...
I felt so guilty for laughing, but, face it, his frustration was funny. He eventually learned to ignore the third peanut and whisk the other two safely to wherever he was hiding them (or eating them), then come back for the third (and fourth) later. Ah, those were the good old days. And I did stop playing that trick on them after a while.

Nice little chipmunk friend. We have small red squirrels here.
Such sweet views around your home...a stunning foxglove!
We have some red squirrels, but they tend to stay up in the woods, unlike the grey ones.
I always love seeing your farm. And I envy you that greenhouse.

Too funny! But good for him for figuring it out eventually.
I love all your photos, thank you!
