Time to Heal?

I'd like to let this go and move on, as so many Republicans are suggesting now--move on and let the Biden/Harris administration deal with Covid and the toxic fallout of the past four years.

But there was an insurrection--an attack on our democracy, an attempt to subvert the votes of the majority--and this seditionist action--egged on by none other than the President and many of his allies--should not be ignored. There must be consequences.

Impeach, impeach, and go on impeaching! Even if there is faint hope of conviction, at least 45* will go down in history as the first president to be impeached twice.

No, I don't think it is time to let it go.
I hope punishments are just and as severe as justice will allow.

I agree. I also am aware how large a body of disparate members is the House of Representatives. It is hard to get it to move toward just one thing, but I have hopes an Impeachment does pass. Then by the 21st perhaps the Senate will be able to agree (being a majority Democrat). Before then I'm quite sure McConnell will do his best, er, continue to do his worst, and not decide against tRump.

If there is no justice, there can be no peace. If nothing else, the Trump presidency has lifted the lid off our country's festering sores of racism, nationalism, religion co-opted for political purposes, and inequality. If we cover that back up, those sores will continue to fester and become worse. Only by adhering to justice and truth will we truly be able to heal as a nation.

Trump learned early on he could get away with bad behaviour. Thus, in the end, he became a well nigh unstoppable monster.

Just so will the Republican Party, as represented by these seditionists, become an unstoppable monster if we let them get away with this. Enough is enough. The rotten core of the party must be dealt with by the law and by the ballot box, and those who supported it in all innocence and naiveté be shown the truth behind the lies and obfuscation.

Actions have consequences. Period. Else our country is lost.

Every time somebody, usually Republican, says time to heal or we must unite, I feel incredulous. Really? You are kidding? With people who condone attacking or actually attack innocent people for the sake of lies? No.
