Amazing long wings, those feathers on the tips and such control on the wind!

We don't see as many in our suburb now as we used to, but I remember a time when vultures would sit on the roofs of houses, including ours, and spread their enormous wings in the sun for oiling. One neighbor was afraid they would attack her full-grown poodle! She was relieved to learn that vultures don't have the equipment or the inclination to attack anything unless it's already dead.

I rarely see them purchasing as I did in MD but do see them gliding.

I put out my hummingbird feeder this morning even though I hadn't spotted one yet. Wouldn't you know I saw one a couple of hours later filling up. It's a wonder it wasn't buzzing me yesterday while I worked in the garden. They have done that in the past to announce they're back.
