Our peony plant is blooming well for the first time in the 30 years we've lived here. The previous owner had planted it directly under a birdfeeder, and it was sitting in sunflower shells, which contain a chemical that damages or even kills plants. So I moved it, knowing it would take several years to recover. Then, for some reason I can't remember, it had to be moved again. It sat there and sulked for years. Finally we put it right in the middle of the garden, in a sunny spot, surrounded by low growing daylilies, and treated it as if it were one of them. It got the same fertilizer, the same water. It perked up, and over the past few years has produced more and more flowers. This year the flowers are not only abundant, but also BIG -- larger than I' e ever seen them. So it's happy at last, living the life of a daylily.

Whenever flowers were first devised, iris and orchids were the epitome of creations...as well as roses, peonies, sunflowers...etc!
Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
