I learned yesterday of the passing of an old friend. Malcolm Owen and his late wife Vicky, a college friend of mine, were our introduction to Madison County. In early years, we often traded work days. Their older son and Ethan were classmates throughout school, and we often socialized.
Malcolm was a talented old-time fiddler and a member of the early Fuzzy Mountain String Band. He was also a loving and compassionate caregiver for Vicky during her struggle with dementia.
In recent years, he had moved away from of our community towork in Burnsville. We had not been in touch in some while but his passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts.

It's always hard to hear such news. It brings back nevertheless good memories for which we are grateful.
I'm so sorry, Vicki. The end of life is natural and expected, yet we are always surprised and saddened when it happens to someone we care about. He left you and your family with good memories, and in that way he lives on.
Sorry to hear that you lost an old friend. Gather those memories you shared to honor him.
So sorry, Vicki.... Deana the Queena
