Five Thousand Posts

Good grief! It seem like only yesterday (December 26, 2007) that I did my first post. It's been a long-standing pleasure to talk about and share pictures of  Madison County, the farm, flora and fauna of all sorts, food, books, politics, silly stuff, stories . . . oh my!

Fewer people follow and comment these days--I think a lot of us are worn out/overwhelmed with all that's out there on the internet. And many folks have migrated to Twitter or Instagram or whatever the next new thing is. But, as I realized several thousand posts ago, I'm really doing this for myself--an online journal of sorts that I can refer to in the future to remind myself of various events in the past.

And--if all goes well, soon I may have something new to share.

So, on to the next thousand, one post at a time!

I agree that we do it primarily for ourselves. I like to write but only little essays, or whatever you call what I do.

Your blog is an important part of my morning routine. I would sorely miss it, and you, if it were gone.

Who's the happy dog?

A pending adoption . . .

You keep writing, I’ll keep reading.
My words are never as good as yours. I just nod my head in agreement with you.
Peace.

Sweeet little dog. Reminds me of a Jack Russell who was in the car next to mine when I parked at the grocery a few days ago. No barking. So I told her I had expected some noise, but was very pleased with just seeing her tail wagging!

I've been at this since 2008. In looking back I see that this year I'll have the most posts in a year. Must have something to do with being in a new spot.

Congrats on your post count. I'm glad I found you either from AC or Barbara Rogers.

I share my lunchtime with you every day. I've vicariously explored the North Carolina mountains with you, learned much about the mountain culture, laughed at the cats, enjoyed the antics of Josie, and fondly remembered past experiences you've resurrected from my memories. I don't comment very often, but I can't imagine a day without your blog.

Keep writing about Josie!

Your blog is at the top of my "daily rounds" list. (Which I'm only just now getting to because I forgot because I had to get up after only four hours of sleep but the polls opened at 06:00 and I wanted to be there when they did. I suspect you will understand and not mind that I forgot.) But most people tend to comment more on Facebook now. That's what I do, usually.

But, yes, as Sandra Parshall wrote: Josie. Her face lights up many a heart among your followers. But your photographs and stories, as well as the just natterings on, lift our spirits as well.

I'm sure glad you keep doing it for yourself: I love reading your posts. I'm afraid my posts have just dribbled away to once in a while, and I've noticed the same phenomenon with a lot of blog friends, but please keep posting away.

I may not comment regularly, but I'd certainly miss your daily visits to my inbox. As I'm sure many of your followers feel, you've given us a peek into your daily life (Josie!), writing mindset and your absolutely voracious appetite for reading... everything! I feel privileged to have been one of your many students over the years and am glad we are still in each other's world. I truly appreciate your having subscribed to my lifestyle blog. I hope you occasionally find a post that's worth your time! Was that a subtle hint that you're conceiving a new project, or have perhaps actually started writing?
