Most of you who read this blog are probably aware that I've been slowly stepping (pretty much the only way I step, these days) away from teaching commitments. There are several reasons--the ongoing pandemic and my grandmotherly responsibilities are part of it. Plus, as I near 80, there just isn't the energy I should be bringing to a class.
Great Smokies Writing Program has been a constant in my teaching life for almost fifteen years. I've had the privilege of working with a wonderful assortment of writers, and I suspect I've learned as much from them as they have from me.
The new great Smokies Literary Review has an embarrassing amount of print dedicated to me on the occasion of my retirement. See HERE.

They must have been good times. Enjoy your good memories.
How wonderful these tributes are and how well-deserved, I feel sure. As will be the chance for a little more rest and recreation in the coming years. It sounds like you have touched many people's lives for the better (including mine, through your blog and books, which I have so enjoyed for years). That's a great achievement to be glad of.
I'm much later a transplant to these beautiful mountains, but have been reading your books ever since I moved here! Sorry not to have had one of your classes, but since my writing is pretty limited, I never considered myself an author. Your kudos are certainly well deserved! Congratulations!!
You have inspired others and helped to launch new careers. You've earned your retirement!
Wonderful accolades for an endearing author. Have loved your books and blogging. Met you decades ago at an author program at my library in Apex. Can attest to your speaking ability to capture a room.
Those are some wonderful accolades for your writing and your teaching. I've enjoyed 4 of your books so far and I agree with all of what was said. But here's a question: do you have another book in you to write?
Well deserved accolades, Vicki. Our warmest regards to you and John.
I wish I could've participated in one of your classes. You have made a difference in so many lives. Time off well deserved. I hope to meet you some day soon.
Thank you for the countless hours of reading enrichment and enjoyment.
Brava! You deserve every one of those accolades, and then some.
What a wonderful group and wonderful memories to savor.
