Japanese Iris

They always come as a nice finale to iris season, blooming as they do after the Bearded and Siberian irises have given up.

Years ago, a friend of mine visited Japan and was taken iris-viewing--walking on wooden pathways across shallow ponds filled with irises. What bliss that would be!

Such a lovely flower - totally different from bearded iris! But then you see the similarities.

I love Irises. Such simple beauty. And the purple-and-yellow are my favorites. Van Gogh irises.

The deep purple iris opened today that I mentioned in my iris saga. My daughter asked if if still wanted more and of course I said yes.
The Siberian irises in purple are blooming too now.
