Dark Season

Cold and rainy and mostly gray. We needed the rain and maybe the cold will finally kill off the ticks which continue to show up on Jenny after her rambles.

Moving into soup and stew season. I made a huge pot of chili--about three gallons--and froze it in smaller portions. We have acquired our Thanksgiving turkey--a 25 pounder for 8 dollars and change. It was a special promotion at our local grocery when one spent over $35, which is, alas, all too easy to do.

Looking for an old friend to visit this weekend and then there's Thanksgiving. And Christmas will be upon us in no time.  There'll be plenty to keep us cheerful in this dark season.

My fresh turkey is on order and I'll pick it up on Tuesday. It won't be $8. What a bargain that was. We had snow overnight and rain on top of it. A slushy mess.

We will be skipping Thanksgiving dinner again this year, and probably Christmas dinner too, because I'm certainly not going to be cooking. Maybe next year. I hope the whole Skemp family has a happy and healthy holiday season with many sunny days.

What a great bargain on your turkey! Do enjoy the feast. I'm not planning to celebrate nor cook. Not for political reasons, just my own sense of, I guess, it's much easier to just go through Thursday than to have a big hoopla. I tend to make easier choices these days!
