A Family Heirloom

Our friend Vic, who lives on a boat year round, brought us his grandmother's egg gathering basket.

Rather than embarrass our girls with unrealistic expectations, we have decided to treat the basket as art and hang it on the porch wall.

It's a strong graphic presence when the morning sun hits it.

I wonder how many chickens Vic's grandmother had?

Who knew that there was such a thing ... to put all of your eggs into.

Vicki, I'm a big fan of old baskets and that one is a beauty! xo

It is a beautiful wall sculpture. I like the line designs that you are getting from the sunlight.

A lovely basket! When we had chickens I would pick up the eggs in a discarded Easter egg basket from one of the girls – I did not know there were special egg-picking-up baskets – wish I had had one like yours.
