John has renewed the waterbreaks on our road and we have a store of water in case we lose power. And, of course, kerosene lamps and a gas stove top.
So we're pretty much set.
If you don't hear from me tomorrow, it will mean we've lost power.

Update Thursday morning: We lost power last night, but it was back in a few hours. Hurrah for the crews from French Broad Electric! Of course, it may happen again...

I hope it doesn't hit you too hard. We' ve been getting rain every day for a week, and we see a huge cell moving up from the south this morning.
I'm thinking your past lives in Florida may have helped you prepare for any power outages! Hope all is well on your mountain!

I have heard that the problem was with Duke Power's trunk line. Over 18,000 people in Madison County were without power for a time.
Of all the stupid things, I had problems with Comcast so didn’t watch TV or looked at the weather ahead, then decided to drive to Atlanta yesterday. The trip usually takes 4 hours or so from Nashville, yesterday took almost 9 hours! Because of heavy rain and multiple accidents. Then this morning I read about Helene. Of course have nothing to eat here, etc. A tree already fell on my barn (the neighbor’s tree.). I hope no more will come down, am surrounded by pines.

Oh yes! Plus we survived the Blizzard of '93 with a houseful of college students and no power.
