Hell or Highwater

The skies were lowering and it was spitting rain when I set out for my meeting with the Hell or Highwater Book Club last Saturday night. In fact, it was the sort of evening that makes a body want to stay home and drink hot soup.

But I knew from their name that the ladies of the club would be there. And I'm so glad I went. Cloudy stormy evening are beautiful in these mountains and the autumn gold shows to particular advantage against the gray.

At the end of my journey I discovered a beautiful home, filled with art, an amazing studio hidden in the woods, and a charming set of women, ready to talk about my first book, Signs in the Blood.

Check out my slide show to see some of what I saw. . .

What a beautiful home and studio! And what an unusual name for a book club. Do you know how they came to choose that particular name?

What a beautiful home/studio they have. All the glass to bring the outdoors in ... wow! I bet you hope they read all your other books and ask you back for discussions on those too!

I was told that the book club's first meeting was held on the night of a big storm and they met . . . come hell or highwater.

Vicki

What a location!

Sure the members wouldn't consider a name change to the Heavenly Oasis Club?

Sounds like MY kind of book club, Vicki! And what a beautiful location - thanks for sharing it with us. (trying to figure out how to make your slide show larger to view even better)

You can double click on the slide show
which will take you to the web album and in the upper left corner will be a place to click for full screen viewing.

How fun! A discussion of one of your books in such a location. The ladies (and gentlemen if applicable) must be wonderful, too.

Your blog is always interesting. Thanks for it.

I like the warmness of the wood inside this beautiful house, the wide windows, and the nice stained glasses !

What an amazing and beautiful home this is! I enlarged your photos and enjoyed seeing them. I am sure the book club liked your book as much as I did!

Thanks all, for stopping by! I'm on the run, packing and hauling plants in in case the weather gets too cold while I'm gone. I hope to continue posting from Indiana.
