The sun is in the middle of our horizon, beginning its long slide south.
Poised between summer heat and winter cold, we enjoy the glory and the poignant, fleeting beauties of autumn.
Just now, our windows are still open, but I'm wearing a hoodie and sleeping under blankets at night.
It's all about balance.

Happy day of balance!
I am wearing a hoodie in the morning before it heats up. Soon we will be in that season where we get colder but still not try to put the furnace on. We can sometimes make it to November. Barely.
Our automatic thermostat is turning the heat on every night now. Our neighbors still have their houseplants sitting outside, but ours are comfortably in the house after a summer of rampant growth on the screened porch. Today we're getting Ophelia's rain, with more than inch in the rain gauge already. The cats are totally zonked out.
