A Plenitude of Pumpkins

On my way to my writing class in Asheville yesterday, I was enchanted by the array of pumpkins spread out in front of Grace Episcopal Church. Their sale benefits a local food pantry and I didn't grow pumpkins this year so . . .

There's something about trying to find just the right one. . .

Plump and round , elongated or slumped . . .

I always look for one with a nicely curved stem . . .

This big boy below has some personality . . .

No time to linger . . . I had to get to class.

The one on the left will do nicely.

What a beautiful scene. The pumpkins look they belong right there on the church grounds of the lovely church.

I've never seen a greater variety of pumpkins this year. For lack of a better word, I've been calling them "gourmet." Some are pink, others are striped, and another is called "popcorn" because it's skin looks like popcorn.

Love that you were shopping, photographing and of course planning this blog about pumpkins, all at the same enjoyable moment in time!

Perfectly precious pumpkins pining to be pies please. Photographed pleasingly, plump and porcine, pompous and petite, pure autumn palate. Heh heh heh

Oh, Mary Ann -- plenty of points for you!

Sam -- they had some of the 'gourmet' pumpkins and I wish I'd had time to photograph them but I was in a tearing hurry.

Ms. A -- oh, yes, a nice one.

I love those church pumpkin sales. There is one near our bookstore and when I go down, I walk over just to watch the little kids. They are so adorable picking out just the right pumpkin.

Oooh,I love pumpkins! I wish I could grow them up here, but the growing season isn't long enough for them. I can never resist buying one, or two...or thirty! I have to have enough for the Raccoons to hold their annual bowling tournament. ;)

A reason to believe that the church's door has been repainted to match the pumpkins... Amd such a match with the stones!
Hope the food pantry could be filled up with the benefits.

That's a great idea to raise funds. I have been looking for a white pumpkin- I've been seeing those on the blogs.
