I love proofreading. Had to quit reading the local newspaper because I got so frustrated with all the errors I found. But, I do hate proofreading my own stuff. :(
Thanks for the offer, you all, but at this point it's done. The next proofreading -- after the basic novel passes muster with Herself -- will be done by one or two of Random House's professionals. Then I will get a hard copy with everyone's -- editor and copy editor -- changes marked and I'll have a very short time to review it.
I tried once having a friend give the ms. a second read after I'd gone over it but there just wasn't time with only the single hard copy.
Now if I ever get my ducks in a row where I have my book written and a week or so before it's due, I'll keep you all in mind!
