Paw Paw Fixer-Upper -- with Barn

Across the road from the little cemetery I photographed the other day is this old cabin.

I believe it's been deserted as long as we've been here -- some forty years -- and it looks to be of the same vintage as our old cabin -- mid to late 1800's.

The glass in the windows is gone (if there ever was any) and the chinking is falling out -- but the wisteria is blooming.

Someone's dreams were in this little cabin long ago . . .

Waiting for someone to dream some more . . .

And there's a barn just across the road. . .

Pretty sure there is someone out there dreaming of such a place.

Love it! Just got news that my barn was on the ground, and it's not nearly that old. Sure wish I had some of the wood.

Definitely a dream house...with wisteria.

Shall I contact the estate agent? Wonder what the taxes are, and if there is broadband to go with the lovely wisteria.

Oh my, just thinking how the folks who lived there were influenced when the road went between their home and the barn...way before it was paved obviously. Buckets of milk carried up from the barn to the cabin. Do you all milk your cows, Vicki?

Are there pawpaws growing there? I got the fixer-upper part but not the pawpaw, unless those are pawpaw trees on the right.

If I was 40 years younger and could get my California girl wife to leave california I would buy a trailer and park it there and start to work. Probably finish 40 years later and be happy as a clam

PawPaw is the name of the creek and the road on which this desirable residence is located. There are probably pawpaws around.

My son and DIL milk the Jersey cows -- they produce enough milk for their calves and extra for us. Our Red Devons are beef type cows and all their milk goes to their calves -- who do their own milking.

Over on Facebook, one of my friends said that back in '72, she and her then husband almost moved into that cabin and that it looked like the previous tenants had just left.
