Early Morning Rain

In the dim first light comes
A staccato rattle of drops on the metal roof . . .
A waft of cool air at the window . . .

And the grateful fragrance of dry earth welcoming  water . . .
I wake to morning rain.

Ah.. the dance of the seasons that blogging brings so close . Our gardens are bare and pruned and yours so fecund and ripe!

When we got back from our trip we'd had 3 inches of rain and everything was beautiful, hasn't rained since till last night we got a light shower. I had to water everything this morning. Congrats on the rain!

Now, I'm sulking. You have a metal roof! Is there anything more musical than rain on a metal roof?
