We are having very hot weather -- the air so heavy it's hard to breathe. So I decided to revisit the past. These are from my trip to Santa Cruz a few years ago -- trying to remember what cool air felt like . . . and hearing the lovely sound of the waves . . .

I empathize with you, we are also going through days of record high temperatures. It feels like a miracle that this past night brought cool air down from the Vienna Woods, hurrah! They will climb to another record high by tomorrow, though.
May cooler air come to your mountains, soon!
I remember your trip and the beautiful photos. I spent some time outside today and even in the shade it was horridly hot. Sure did make the AC feel great when I came in! Hope you are finding some ways to stay cool!
Hah! I just posted a winter pic on Flickr.
Just seeing those rocks I imagine the sounds of waves pounding on them, and smell the salt air blowing steady against my cheek. What a lovely respite to imagine when all is hot and humid like a jungle out there!
I always wish I could bring you here - it's been hot a little, but rarely on the bluff where we live - and this morning all gray and cool. Like to picture you drinking your morning coffee bundled up in a sweater! Hope it breaks soon for you.
Love the otters!
Those photographs are wonderful. Which Santa Cruz did you visit?
I feel bad you are having so much hot weather. Hope you have a fan to cool it down some. Take your shoes off and dangle your feet in your cool mountain creek. That always refreshes.
It is 71 F at 7:50 am here in Vista. A high of 80 F. Unusual for this time of year. Should be around 90 F. I'm not complaining or rubbing it in. I'm just saying....
Love the otters!
"I feel cooler already," she said as she looked at the photographs in her air-conditioned house. It's that miserable here as well. The air is so heavy it shrouds you when you step outside.
Well maybe you should take a trip to England again soon? That could be our coastline.
I'm sorry it's unbearably hot over there just now. It's hard to get it just right, isn't it. When we were away last week, we were on the west coast and it was noticeably warmer than this side of the British Isles. Warm and wet on the west and cool and dry on the east. Santa Cruz looks wonderful!
Lovely pictures! We lived down the coast near Monterey, Carmel, and Pacific Grove. It is, indeed, cool there in the summer. It's been a long time and would like to see it again. Have a cool day!
Not hot here, but not cold either. Very windy though. The air at the coast always feels fresher. My dad used to keep saying 'breathe in' every time we went to the seaside. It made my sister and I laugh.
