Promises

Spring is so full of promises -- from a sunlit patch on distant hills at the close of a cloudy day . . .

to the daylily's determined leaves thrusting out of the winter-cold earth . . .

and the climbing yellow rose, bursting forth in new green finery.

Tiny buds tip the lilac branches, hinting at glories to come . . .
while wild spirea's flower-like rosy new foliage deserves a closer look . . .
The blue, blue sky invites our hopes to soar . . .

and the flowering quince's tight furled buds say, No -- over here -- look at me!

Next to Winter, Spring is my favorite season. Summer is too hot, Autumn has gotten to be downright terrifying, what with all the huge wildfires, but Spring...ah yes, full of promise and hope!

Beautiful photos!

Oh I do love your photos of Spring, I love all the seasons but have to say Fall is my favorite. I am so looking forward to Spring this year......:-) Hugs

Evidence that things are moving at last Vicki. Lovely photographs of spring's promise.

It is snowing! Spring took a hike. She was here for a few days and then took off. Silly girl.

I can't wait - spring is on its way, tentatively, hesitantly, with stops and starts (we have been promised sleet for Easter) but there are many signs.

It does seem like spring is on it's way here ... I love your pictures and they give me even more hope!

Spring this year is starting to look like last year, what with all the rain we are getting! But the trees are starting to bud and the bulbs are comin' up. The misty shot here is grand but then all your macro snaps are spot on :)

Lots of hope, Victoria!

Bernie,Spring is definitely my favorite with autumn next. The extremes of summer and winter are less to my taste.

At last, indeed, Martin!

We could still get snow too, Callie -- it's happened in April.

They say we may have thunderstorms on Easter, Friko. Not great for the annual Easter egg hunt :-(

I'll bet you've been busy outside these past few lovely days, Pat!

Thanks, Subby -- Loved your pics of the ice breaking up!

Vicki, thanks m'dear! Tho' the popping sounds do intimidate at first, heh...

Was able to track down a few books but will have to wait for them, so off to B&N in the mean-while :)

We're too far south for all but the skimpiest of lilacs; grew up with a huge lilac bush signaling spring so I really miss them. Still...I manage to find, grow, borrow, or (shsh...don't tell anyone) even steal a sprig every spring.

Hope you enjoy, Subby!

I think you can be forgiven a small fragrant theft, Lynne!

Mountainwoman -- It looks like another beautiful one over my way!

The promises are beautiful and bode well for the real thing still to come in all its glory! Cheers for Persephone!

Thanks for the lovely virtual spring walk.
Thanks for your visit! I agree with you: men look great in kilts as long as they have good muscular legs.

Oh, beautiful - looks like you could walk and walk in your area and never get tired of drinking in the beauty. Every now and again I need to see open spaces to start me breathing again.

Eleanor -- My friend Kay has a lovely poem on Demeter and Persephone over on her blog HERE, WHERE I AM -- posted a few days ago with a daffodil picture. You might enjoy it.

Thanks, Wil!

You figure whoever lives there must be very special indeed, Willow!

Fingers crossed, Tammy!

Jennyfreckles -- lots of beauty, for sure -- with some trashy bits, just for character.

So far spring is full of empty promises and rain around here!

Spring is here really. We drove to Emory again today (have to go 5 more times for my husband’s study) and I was astonished at all the trees full of white or pink blossoms. Some were so full of blossom they looked like huge “barbe à papa” I don’t know how you call that in English it is sugar candy, maybe it is cotton candy? Anyhow I was driving but I am going to photograph these trees somehow.

Vicki Lane said...

Thanks, RBB! It feels good to have something other than snow or gray days to photograph!

She Writes -- Soon, Grasshopper, soon! In the fullness of time...

Vagabonde -- cotton candy it is! But I think I'll start calling it barbe a papa -- I will sound tres sophisticated and worldly. ;-)
