Sunday morning and what a pleasure to see blue skies above the mist rising from the river!
Those skies were a delight and wonder all day long with their great flocks of fluffy white clouds sweeping overhead, crowding and jostling together as they moved ever eastward.
The clarity of the atmosphere and the pure Carolina blue of the sky were intensified by the seemingly endless ranks of billowy clouds.
By evening though, like good sheep, they were gathered into the rosy fold beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Leaving the heavenly field clear for dreams.

I remember we had an art teacher who implored us not to forget the skies.
His words have stayed with me since my schooldays.
The bigger the sky, the bigger the stage for those spectacular, nebulous performances.
Hi, Vicki! I love your photos and the words accompanying them. I finished your second book, which was captivating until the end, I could now picture the country where Elizabeth lives( and you too! ). I am going to order the other books tomorrow! You are a great narrator.
After all the rain you've had, you must be really pleased to see these skies Vicki. Enjoy them now they're here, won't you.
Blessings, Star
Beautiful pictures of a more then welcome blue sky and sunshine! It's been a while in coming, but wasn't yesterday just the most pleasant day, and more to come! Woo hoo!
We are fortunate,Martin, to have a front row balcony seat for those nebulous performances. I could do a blog with nothing but sky pictures -- almost every morning I wake up, look out the bedroom window, and say, Oh my, look at that!
So glad you enjoyed ART'S Blood, Readr Wil! Yes, Elizabeth's countryside, house, gardens, and dogs are all based on mine.
I'm heading out the door, Star, to enjoy a it of another beautiful day.
And I'll bet you're doing the same, Pat!
(Pat is almost a neighbor -- living in an adjoining state. We share a lot of weather.
Beautiful. I love the notion of heavenly flocks!
It's a clear, cool, heavenly morning in central Ohio. No sheep, though. :^)
Hi Vicki, lovely photos and I am glad to see you are playing around with your new camera. The rainy day food looks so good, I am drooling at the photos and still thinking of your blue skies. Hugs, Margie.
Willow -- was out photographing mushrooms earlier and I swear I heard their tiny voices! Now that your husband has revealed the secret . . .
Margie -- Oh, it's a fine day just now -- bright and windy! Perfect for camera practice!
I love the two last sentences ...the beautiful skies
and the size of your photos
Beautiful photos, Vicki!
Mushroom voices? What did they say?
Thank you, Miss Yves! If I'd had more time, I'd have attempted a poem on the subject.
Victoria -- They sang in squeaky voices, "One side makes you bigger; one side makes you small . . ." (I caught this silliness from a post Willow did recently -- complete with video.)
Vicki, I love your photos! I am reading Old Wounds at the moment, and loving it. Although I greatly enjoyed Art's Blood, I do like it when the story is more centered around Full Circle area. Probably because I am selfish, as I live in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia! Sounds just like home. I love it when you use the dialect as it is exactly the same one spoken here. We've lived here six years, so we are definitely newcomers.
I could take photos here every day, too and often do!
Kathryn
Hey there, Kathryn -- Just left you a photo over on your Face book page!
Yes, I almost always have a camera nearby -- there's always something worth seeing.
So glad you're enjoying OLD WOUNDS!
Hey Vicki! You know I'm oloving those cloud shots!! :)
We had some beauties today too! Cool front moving in tonight here, I bet you all are gonna get real chilly! BRRRR ! HA!
It's cooled off some, Carol, but I haven't closed the bedroom windows yet. Have the comforter on the bed though. And several dogs ready to lend their warmth if needed.
Over here in Yancey County the clouds were low, heavy and dark. They looked like snow clouds to me. I love how mountain weather is so local!
