Ali Ali -- an ebony statue, a frozen image, not a quiver of his flanks to give him away -- fixes the hapless rodent with his steely gaze.
Jeez.
Here I am with my mouth all watered up for some sunflower seeds, and Mr. Mighty Hunter has to show up.

That is way too cute how you captured all that. Poor Ali Ali ... such frustration!
We think chipmunks are so cute but haven't seen a one here. We saw them in Mississippi and when we stayed in Highlands one year. I have no idea why we don't have them around here. We've watched a chipmunk up close and they look like a vacuum cleaner as they stuff her cheeks full of food.

Hi Vicki, loved you Haiku, was reading recently that there are over one million poets in Japan,no where else in the world respects, enjoys and reveres poetry like the Japanese and the language there lends itself perfectly to writing Haiku's. Thanks, Merisi -- Just luck. That's what I love about the digital cameras -- being able to take a hundred pictures to get one good one --and not having to pay for developing!
This is a game Ali Ali plays, Pat. I've never seen him catch anything.
We didn't see chipmunks for years, Sam. I think they were always around but it took a long time for them to get bold enough to approach the bird feeders. Plus now we have rock walls that provide them good hiding places. nearer the house.
Thanks, Margie! When I taught school, I always used to introduce my student to haiku and encourage them to try. It's a lovely, accessible verse form -- of course there's much more to it than my feeble and hasty attempts but it allows even a beginning poet a lot of satisfaction.
Great photography Vicki! My Aunt has Chipmunks everywhere at her place but I've never seen them around here.
That last pic is perfect!! Our chipmunks entertain us for hours on the patio. We call them Chip and Dale.
I think that Ali Ali might be Boone's twin in black. :-) He reminds me so much of Boone in the way he acts and even stands. And that face.... Ali Ali is such a gorgeous boy...even if his Chipmunk hunting skills are weak--at least he has the pose down! ;-)

Photographing animals is so much fun! -- I couldn't believe haw long the chipmunk lingered with me on one side and Ali Ali on the other.
