Thank You, Donna!

"I always thought that it was understanding which brought about tolerance....now, I think it is tolerance that must be taught first in order for understanding to even be possible."

The quote above is from a message sent me by a Facebook friend and seems to me at once simple and profound.

The pictures are from years past -- a reminder that Spring will follow these grey days of  Winter.

I need to work on my tolerance.

I LOVE rock walls. We used to have them on the Carolina property, but road construction has covered them up over the years.

I think tolerance is so very important – tolerance of other viewpoints, of other nationalities, of other religions (or no religions) tolerance for people who have different lifestyles, different political views, just that alone would make life easier for so many. I truly enjoyed reading the letter from Virgil – so close to a battle and he was quite respectful with another opinion of the war. I like the way people used to write. Last Saturday at the monthly Atlanta Antique and Flea market I found a 1870 edition of a book on Venice, in English that is – can’t wait to read it.

Vicki, I'm a bit late commenting here, but also want to toss listening into the mix...does tolerance come before listening or the other way around? That chicken/egg question that another comment raised.

Frances, in my case and with some people, I have to summon tolerance in order to listen. And of course listening is key to understanding.
