This, according to Greek mythology, was what the Sphinx asked every traveler who sought to enter Thebes. A correct answer was the price of admittance; a wrong answer and the sphinx gobbled up the unlucky traveler.
Of course, you may not want to go to Thebes . . .

I don't have the answer, so I'd better stay away!
Okay... now I know and the photo is perfect with the riddle!
Place a human head on the body of a lion and he Sphinx he has the answer to everything.
ah why a human of course....smiles...ha....cool pictures as well....love the shadow play....
I'd have been one who would have been gobbled up, if a cousin of mine had not told me the answer! Have a wonderful day! Cathy
Man.- generic. I love your use of the shadow photos for the riddle. So it all depends on where you stand, your perspective, when you are called to an answer. If you can see the sun and shadow, can you see the answer?
What did I ever do without Wikipedia? Even after Brian answered it, I didn't understand. I should have paid better attention in school. Cool picture!
And I'm so grateful that there's a sun casting a shadow today!
HA! Great posting ... I remember that riddle from high school, which is amazing since my memory usually sucks. LOL So happy to see you out and about!
