The Riddle of the Sphinx

What goes on four legs in the morning, on  two in the afternoon, and on three in the evening?

This, according to Greek mythology, was what the Sphinx asked every traveler who sought to enter Thebes. A correct answer was the price of admittance; a wrong answer and the sphinx gobbled up the unlucky traveler.

Of course, you may not want to go to Thebes . . .

I'd have been one who would have been gobbled up, if a cousin of mine had not told me the answer! Have a wonderful day! Cathy

Man.- generic. I love your use of the shadow photos for the riddle. So it all depends on where you stand, your perspective, when you are called to an answer. If you can see the sun and shadow, can you see the answer?

What did I ever do without Wikipedia? Even after Brian answered it, I didn't understand. I should have paid better attention in school. Cool picture!

And I'm so grateful that there's a sun casting a shadow today!
