On Saturday, Justin and Claui's friends and family gathered at their house for a planting party in anticipation of the wedding next spring. Folks brought plants -- like this fig tree and these blueberries -- and planted them . . .
A red-leaved Japanese Maple to beautify the front yard . . .
And a multi-trunked Crape Myrtle. . .
Weeds were pulled, bushes were pruned, mulch was spread. . .
Daffodils and crocuses are waiting beneath that mulch . . .
What a great feeling to have all these folks coming together like this!

That's quite a large gathering of cooperative people. How wonderful!
What a fabulous idea, Vicki. A real sense of community.
You are harvesting the fruits of your life's work, creating a family and community in your spirit. I can only begin to imagine how much you enjoyed that day.
May those plants take root and grow and blossom when spring comes along.
How great! Family spirit!
nice...how fun....and this is for a wedding? i can think of few cooler things....to have everyone coming together its a beautiful thing..
Oh I missed something! Who is getting married? Cool idea- preparing in advance for a beautiful outdoor ceremony!
My son Justin and his long-time girlfriend Claui are getting married just before Easter. This is in hopes of having a beautiful blooming landscape to have the ceremony in.
Vicki, what a wonderful way to engage so many folks in helping to prepare for a wedding day, not long after you celebrated your own anniversary.
It looks as if you all had a golden autumn day. May springtime's beauty be enhanced by all the flourishing plantings!

This makes me want to call up my friends and ask them over to landscape my yard! Maybe if I cook up a buffet?
Susan --- we fed them very well!
What a blessing for everyone, but especially for you and John...at your anniversary time....to have the next generation being celebrated as part of the Next Big Step!
Happy..happy 49th to you both.

Well I am catching up as usual. I won’t comment on all your past posts that I read because I would use too much of your space. I’d like to tell you how sorry I am about Miss Susie Hutchins though – quite a fine cat you had there. Then it was great to admire all your wonderful nature photography and read your animal comic strips-photos. You show so many outstanding fall photos.
We escaped all the political ads on TV since we were gone during the month of October (didn’t see the debates either) but we came back in time to vote. Down the street the church where people voted had a sign on one side saying “Vote Here” and on the other side “Romney-Ryan.” They took it down now but many people on my road still have their Romney signs up – don’t want to acknowledge reality I guess.
What a lovely idea. We'll hope the winter and spring lead to all the blooms being just perfect for the wedding.
Note to Congress: Watch Vicki Lane's group. Watch and learn.
What a wonderfully cool idea! I'm looking forward to the pictures from next spring.
