A Visit to Lake James and the Read Between the Wines Book Club

It's always a pleasure to talk about my books with people who enjoy reading.

And when that pleasure is combined with a visit to a beautiful lake and wonderful hospitality . . .
As well as a chance to see a bald eagle guarding her nest . . . well, it makes for a rather special day!
Below is a web album with more pictures -- the pictures in the restaurant were by my hosts Steve and/or Janie.  As always, click on pictures to biggify.

Nice pictures, Vicki. Everyone looks to be having a good time. Is Lake James far from where you live, and who came up with the impressively named, 'Read Between the Wines Book Club'?

What a beautiful spot and the eagle pictures are awesome. I can't believe how many ladies are in that book club and I love their name! HA!

You saw a bald eagle's nest - wow. My husband is good at spotting things, but not me. I could sit by that lake for hours and read.

I wish we had that many people in our writer's sessions. Seems most in our group attend the poet's group rather than the prose.

I love that pun on the name of the club. I just listened last week to Isabel Allende who was being interviewed for her book Island Beneath the Sea by Atlanta former first lady, Valery Jackson, on her weekly literary show “Between the Lines.” I like her, she says “yes…yes” - she is nice. Your pictures of the lake are very good and the eagle is outstanding.

Martin, Lake James is about a two hour drive from our farm. I don't know who came up with the name but it's a goodie, isn't it?

Victoria et al, My camera lens was working its hardest to catch the eagles. And then I cropped the photo to get an even closer look, thence the slight fuzziness. But what a treat!

Pat and Sam-- My hostess said it's a fairly casual book club and numbers vary at each meeting but this was an especially good turn out. I was totally impressed!

Vagabonde, I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't read Allende -- I must remedy that!

Gosh, it's got to feel so rewarding to sign books! Looks like a fun evening. I enjoyed the slideshow. You look marvelous, daaaling. And much taller than I imagined!

This pic of the bald eagle and nest is magnificent!!

A writer's life is a hard one, I can see that.

I used to be almost 5'9", Willow, but age and disk compression have robbed me of about an inch -- vertically, that is. Alas, time has added far too many to my girth.

It has its moments, Friko! Of course, then there are the hours and days that I'm chained to the laptop.

Definitely a special day! LOL at bigify. Any day that includes a bald eagle is a good day. Looks like you had a really good turnout.

I imagine that getting out with the readers of your books can be a high for you as well as the participants. Congratulations on your latest book being finished. Your writing schedule must demand lots of discipline on your part. I admire the fact that you started in 2005 and have since had so many books published.-- barbara
