Josie Has a Big Girl Bed--and Autonomy

When Josie climbed out of her bed last week, we bowed to the inevitable and John installed the side rail, converting the crib to a 'youth bed.'

Josie was elated. We love seeing her progress but this feels like a real paradigm shift. What next? we ask ourselves...

Almost a classic small step/giant step sort of thing.

It’s wonderful that you’ve recorded so many big steps in her young life. She’s such an independent, adventurous girl that you’ll need to keep your camera close at hand in the next few years. She’ll be climbing trees before long.

And so her skills go toward the trees (as sandra said). Wonderful that you've been recording all these great moments (and writing the little phrases on them) I'm sure you've also got the dates of each photo also! Gone are the days of albums with those little corners that held our photos that we never got around to dating!

It's both exciting and sad to reach these milestones. Good to mark them though.

She's such a celebrity. But, so far, fame hasn't gone to her head.

There are lots of choices for clocks for toddlers. The will signal when they child is allowed to come out of the room or how long they must stay in bed at naptime even if they don't sleep. They are quite effective in training the child to amuse herself/himself until it is time to get up. And the child will obviously override the instructions in an emergency.
