Do You Procrastinate?

A new day dawned and at last it was time to finish the job I began I-don't-know-how-many months ago. I painted one cupboard interior back then but there were two left undone.
Really, the paint is redder than these pictures show. Really.
Outdoors is all new and fresh looking and, inside, it's time to put away the blues and yellows that followed Christmas....
And move into Spring pastels.
Bring out the Easter knick-knacks and change the pillow covers to the green ones...
Toss the blue kitchen rugs in the washer and put down green ones ... All just in time for predicted freezing temperatures on Thursdaynight.

But it felt good to have finished those other cupboards.  Who knows, maybe I'll actually get around to painting the bedroom ... I only bought the paint two years ago...

Do you have any long-neglected projects that you're thinking about doing this spring?

Your house looks so comfortable and cosy! I have been springcleaning these past few weeks. This week I washed the curtains and glass curtains. Ialso cleaned all cupboards and every year I am amazed that I have so many things I never use. Lots of clothes and books, I never read.

I'd say you are doing very well Vicki! Your cupboards are looking wonderful. I love the way you change things from season to season with different colours.

Always, always a list of things to do ... some get done (hurray!) and others are carried over.

Yes I have. I've been bullying Larry into repainting the patio chairs, which look in need of some tender loving care. We bought the paint the other day, like you, just in time for it to get cold again. Now the paint is back in the cupboard but I still have my fingers crossed. I have two weeks left before I return to England so there is still time!
I like the pink paint in your cupboards - it makes everything look warm and cosy. Your house looks cosy always. I love the look of it.

Well, I did paint the garden chair bright blue. But, hmmm. Indoors.

I have to say that I have elevated procrastination into the status of a personal religion. I like to think of my life as composing of three stages : agitate, regenerate, procrastinate. And I am proud to say that I have entered the final stage.

I never considered myself one but as I look back I realize, I have been one all my life but always met my goals when there was a deadline. So I'm a deadline driven procrastinator. Great post.

Congrats on getting those cupboards completed!

Our biggie is some landscaping we started last year. I'm hoping to have photos of completed flower beds with beautiful flowers. Of course it will be next year before the flowers are in their glory.

Maybe I should mentioned the queen size quilt I started for my daughter's wedding present... hmmmm 14 years ago! It is hanging from the ceiling in the garage. Shame on me!

I've got to have a yard sale this year. There is entirely too much clutter around this place and I desperately need room to put "stuff" away. There are enough knick knacks and do dads around this place to fill three houses.

Love your house. It always looks so cozy. I'm terrible at procrastinating! I like to use the excuse that I'm 'too busy', but in reality there are just some tasks that I will put off and off and off. Like finishing the 'orange' walls in the back room... Orange and Dark rose just look pretty bad together, but that still hasn't inspired me to finish...

Love the red inside your cupboards; it's so cheerful. I also have paint that was bought several years ago and hasn't made it onto some walls yet!

Hurrah! We escaped freezing last night and the blooms still look good outside.

We've often said that in spring, before the weeds start growing, Everything seems possible..

Oh, those lists, Pat. Years ago we made a whole series of them -- house exterior, interior, garden, pastures, vehicles, -- all the different areas that needed attention -- and then a list of the lists.

It was overwhelming and we burned the whole thing and just muddled along. But I still make daily lists -- in a sort of triage fashion -- what MUST be done.

Well done, Alan!

Deanna, I had an Amish style quilt that I pieced and then daunted by how much quilting there was, put away in a closet for about fourteen years. Eventually though, I took it out, quilted it and it's hanging in our living room now. What a great feeling!

Oh, I have hundreds - my house hasn't been painted for years mainly because there are bigger underlying things that really need sorting (wardrobes falling to bits, plaster that I fear will crumble if I strip wallpaper) so I never get on with the cosmetic face-lift that might improve things quite a bit in the meantime. I need someone to give me the spur to do it.

Oh, I am the Queen of Procrastination, although I suppose "Deadline Driven Procrastinator" is a better title for me as well, since I always meet deadlines when they exist. I'm proud of myself - this winter I finished cleaning out the futon room closet, a "to do" item that has been on my New Years List of Projects for the last three years. I stop by now and again just to look at it and admire my handiwork.

I dabble in procrastination, but my husband is the master. I think his motto must be "never do today what you can put off indefinitely."

Nicely done. I'm Nearly finished. Cleaned three bedrooms on Thursday, all the bathrooms and the family room yesterday. But must wait to have three pieces of trim placed in the dining room before we can move all the furniture back. Perhaps by the end of the day tomorrow I will have It all completed. Have a grand day!
