In the morning sun.
A tongue of new green glowing,
Growing in the light.
Forsythia buds
Swelling green in the window . . .
Clear blue sky outside.
I know, I know -- we've got lots of winter yet to go. But what a pleasure to see these early signs.

How busy the earth is.. here we are in midsummer and seeding is happening all around in readiness for a future season.. and our nights are slowly becoming longer. Lovely photos Vicki.
Seeing your forsythia branches gives me the idea that I should cut some of them and put them in a vase, to get a little bit of spring in my livingroom.
I'll take any little signs I can. I am also going to have to cut some forsythia branches and bring them inside.
Like me, you're a born optimist, Vicki. Warmer days are around the corner.
Forsythia buds spell spring. Wouldn't it be nice for it to be on the way.

hmmmm, I'm trying but so far, not any signs here in Knoxville, I'm afraid. Your forsythia looks hopeful and so does the amarylis!
Take whatever little hints of spring is right. Great shots.
i will take them...could use a bit of warmth...comeon spring!
Thank you for the smile. It's overcast right now. So, seeing the light in your photos! A pleasure.
I'm still waiting for winter. It was around 70F yesterday, flies and bugs came alive. It's so hot here in the summer, that I much prefer winter. But where is it?--Inger
I'll be glad of my Winter for a while longer. Around the middle of February, I start looking for signs. Up here, it would be too disappointing to look for them yet.
Maybe my hopeful signs are more in the nature of promises -- a token thhat thhe wheel will turn and earth will green.
My forsythia always need pruning and I love bringing the cut branches in. The buds I photographed yesterday are noticeable bigger and greener!
And outside, it's almost balmy.
However. Snow is forecast for next week. Think I'll go cut some more forsythia.
Nothing worthwhile grows in sand, which was the first thing I noticed when we spent a year in Florida.
But, this has been a trying winter and I'm beginning to yearn for crabgrass and sand burs...the only thing that thrives in Florida.
My arthur-itis doesn't allow me to sleep OR move.
Anything green is a welcome sight these days!
Ahhh...love it! Even if it is only January, it's not too soon to start looking for the hopeful signs.
The signs are there somewhere, they will soon be with us.
I love the photos Vicki. How exciting to see something budding.
