A Frozen Waterfall By Any Other Name . . .

More pictures from my trip Thursday to Chimney Rock and the scenic Hickory Nut Gorge.
There are any number of cabins lined up along the gorge, all advertising good views of the "chimney" (snigger) and the waterfalls.

Indeed, the waterfalls are gorgeous, even in their frozen state, and I took lots of pictures.

And then I read Kath's post on  . . . oh, dear. . .
Her post on "Rocksnot" . . .  and I'll never get that image out of my mind.  This time it's not my inner English major that's awakened but my inner kindergartner.

Oh, my . . .  will somebody fetch a tissue?

Oh such fun on your blog. It must be all that dark winter bringing out the funnies. Great pics!

Rocksnot, he he! I love it. We're too flat around here for any of that to develop, so I really enjoyed your pictures today.

I swear, it's Kath's fault. And yes, Joan, it may be the winter weariness bringing out all this silliness!

LOL I had never heard that term before, but love the silliness! :-) When my parents visited years ago, we took to calling very *special* rocks thrown out of the ocean onto the beaches "snot-rocks" because when they're wet, well . . . :-)

Looks as if the Ents - the tree-like people of "The Lord of the Ring" - were in need of serious catarrh remedy.

(Btw, all went well!)

Vickie,
I'm so blown away that you would mention my Rocksnot blog. You're so generous. You warned me you were going out to find frozen waterfalls. And WOW!
I only wish my photos were half so gorgeous as yours.

Frozen waterfalls are so neat! I don't get to see them very often. I guess this crazy winter weather is bringing out the sillies in us all!

J -- that last photo isn't from the Hickory Nut Gorge but one I took on a nearby roadside last year. It was an astounding sight.

See what you started, Kath? Of course I'd mention and link to your blog since the phrase was yours.

I'm cleaning up my act tomorrow -- no indelicate pictures or kindergarten humor. In fact, no words, just pictures.
