Birdies

Get ready! It's coming!

The next Great Backyard Bird Count takes place February 12 -15.

If you can find 15 minutes somewhere in that time frame to watch and keep track of the birdies outside your window, you can play too. (If you live in the USA or Canada, that is.) Put it on your calendar!

Crows, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Roufous-Sided Towhees, Blue Jays . . . they're all waiting for someone to add them to the list.

Check out the site for lots of interesting bird info and some wonderful bird photography. (All my pictures today were taken through not-so-clear windows, alas!)

I'll be participating again this year, Vicki. We have lots of blue jays, juncos, chickadees, cardinals, red-bellied woodpeckers and downy ones, too. I have a Cooper's hawk that makes an almost daily appearance to lunch on my sparrows :(
alas the food chain continues...

I'd like to join in, but will have to pass as I am in the wrong place! I will tune in to your observations of course. I do so love your cardinals and aren't they well named!
Blessings, Star

wonderful bird photos.
We have this sort of thing here too, not in winter though.

Quite amusing, I've just done a post on birds, rather different from yours; about one bird character in particular.

Vicki

A good project, with similar projects taking place in other countries, in one form or other, at various times of the year.

I was about to comment earlier today, but noticed that you had what may have been an unwelcome message sitting there. Anyway, it's not there now.

Your translation is right !
I don't take many photografs of birds , usually , I don't succeed these kinds of shots ...

Yours are lovely, and you must participate to this challenge !

We have a pair of red-tailed hawks, Liz, that I suspect see our bird feeder as a kind of convenience store.

Star -- according to Friko (below) you'll have your chance later!

Thanks, Friko. I enjoyed your post about the domineering blackbird!

That 'comment' was weird, Martin. I followed the profile but there was no info and, not being able to read Japanese, I deleted it. I saw a repetitiveness that makes me think it was spam.

Thank you, Miss Yves! I intend to!

All those Cardinals in one tree, what riches! And what beautiful photos!

I'll participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count. This will be my second year. I really wish they'd move the date into March, though. We're on the Pacific Flyway and get a lot of migratory birds, but they don't show up until March.

Oh, how would I love to take part in this bird count!

Have you been to Maalie's blog? He recently wrote about a British bird survey, very interesting. I have no idea if there are any organized bird watchers around here.

That first images is magical! All the pictures are beautiful, though! It is so wonderful to be able to see these beloved birds through your eyes!

Good to know that you'll be counting along, Victoria!

Merisi --I checked out Maalie's blog-- I knew that the Brits were great birdwatchers; what he's describing sounds super organized.
