The drawback is that the stairs are dark and so is Eddie. A person (me) is likely not to notice the large furry blob on the steps as she's heading bleary-eyed downstairs to bed.

Eddie's New Hangout
On these cold winter days, Eddie's found a new hangout -- the steps up to my work room. Conveniently located just across the hallway from the Monitor heater which simmers along at 66 degrees in an attempt to keep the rest of the house (when we don't have a fire going) somewhere in the high fifties, the steps allow him to move up or down and adjust the amount of heat to his personal preference.
It was a near thing. Now I turn the lights on and look.

Stunning shots !
Eddie looks like a witch's cat in one of them !
Eddie needs a collar with LED lights on it or something, LOL, BUT turning on the lights is really the best solution. We sure don't want you to take a tumble Vicki ... OUCH!
That one picture of Eddie is priceless!
That is so cute.
Aww. Great yawn shot! We like to keep the manor on the cool side, as well.
Possibly Eddie is a witch's cat, Miss Yves . . . there are those who are sure he is.
I'm learning, Pat! It used to be Bear that I would stumble over in the night in our bedroom, she having a resemblance to a black hole.
Thanks Jon Lee -- and I love your picture!
i love Eddie.
I miss having kitties around. I'm thinking it's time Harley gets himself a kitty.
I have a similar issue with my 3-year old German Shepherd. She is always under my feet - she will not leave my side - which has it's benefits - except for the tripping and stepping on her paws! Thanks for the great shots of Eddie.
The good thing about having a cat is that it tends to keep one humble and aware of one's place -- considerably below the cat.
Eddie is one of a kind...he is adorable.
As the old saying goes..."Dogs have an owner, but cats have a staff."

Eddie is definitely unique -- just ask him.
And while it's true that the cats in this house have staff, I'd have to say that the dogs have enablers.
The arched black cat - oh, what a photo...wonderful!
Eddie is so handsome. If we did not have cats in the house it would feel so empty. They don’t make much noise, don’t take much room, but you know they are there – so soft, so intelligent.
Well, at the risk of outraging both Eddie and Shadow, they do look exactly alike. But I'm sure their temperments are unique to each of them...with the exception of liking to trip humans going down the stairs.
I keep telling Shadow he won't get any of the insurance money if he kills me, but it doesn't seem to be sinking in.
Oh, and that's a fantastic capture of Eddie yawning!
Eddie sends thanks to all his fans and congratulates them on their on their extreme good taste. He says that he thinks Vicki has learned to turn the light on now.
I'd say you were lucky to come out of that one unscathed! ;-) Don't want the old boy to get his dander up..or you to take a tumble down the stairs. Having just added the four kittens to the household is taking a little adjusting. Most of the time it's not too bad, but really...I don't know how we all fit in the bathroom. Everytime I head that direction six cats make a beeline as well. What is up with that? Good grief...

When I'm in the bathroom, Miss Susie Hutchins will put a paw under the door and try to snag my foot. She wants to come in and play in the running water in the sink.
