You were expecting something else?
As always, I am enchanted by the skeleton shapes of trees against the winter sky.
And as I was taking these pictures, I challenged myself to avoid the descriptive words that leaped into my mind. No inky tracery or etched on a steely sky. Overused.
Which leaves me wordless.

Me too. When a writer like yourself is wordless, how can I approach with my mundane appreciation? YES.
I too, am awed by the bare grandeur.
I have a tree like that coming up sometime in my series. I quite like it. And that's the bare fact.
I don't see any squirrel nests in those branches. Where do all your squirrels live? We see their nests in almost all the deciduous trees here in winter.
I suspect our squirrels choose trees that are less exposed. Back in the woods rather than on ridgelines. I do see squirrel nest here and there but they have a lot of woods to choose from.
I love the stark monochromatic beauty of winter
My favorite is when the trees appear black against the fiery winter sunsets.
