Wild Geranium
A friend from college days paid us a visit this past weekend. I'm embarrassed to admit how extremely low-key our weekend was -- we took a few walks but mostly we sat around and drank wine and talked.
Wood Anemone?
Not surprisingly, much of the talk was of the weirdness of finding ourselves in our seventies and the changes and challenges -- good and not so good -- that lie ahead.
Groundsel
It's good to spend time with a female contemporary -- especially one with a shared past and similar world view. It's good to talk and it's good to feel comfortable just sitting and enjoying the view and not talking.
Windflower
I'll catch up with my blog visits in the next few days -- in between pulling weeds and writing.
Crested Dwarf Iris
The flowers are wildflowers.

I feel the best thing to do with old friends you haven't been with in a long time is to talk and catch up -- barbara
It sounds like a perfect weekend. There's nothing like catching up with an old friend, and the older I get, the more precious these times are.
Yes, so amazing to be in my 70s! I often think of the Simon and Garfunkel song, "Old Friends," but realize it's really not that strange, and I'm not just "waiting for the sunset." Now, I think, Paul Simon is in his 70s, too; wonder what he thinks of those lyrics in his old age?

The second flower, with the ???, I believe is wood anemone. They grow abundantly in open woods. I have reconnected with two sets of old friends recently, from work. We are all retired now and they were enjoying the beauty of the Smokies in spring. One, sadly, is dying of cancer. We are not quite in our 70's, but within spitting distance of it. Living life to the fullest, especially the couple with the terminal spouse. No whimpers among us!
Flowers give such beauty, freely. Wild, abundant, just there.
Thank you, Mary Anne, for the flower i.d. Yes, whimpering only makes things worse. So glad your friends could enjoy this beautiful spring,
isnt it great to reconnect with those friends....sounds like a good day just being to me...
Spending time with long time friends is good for the soul; we should do it more often. The wildflowers are lovely, we're still slow to bloom up here.
Vicki, I love seeing these pretty flowers in their natural settings. I do completely agree with you about the joy of catching up with friends you've know for a long while. Nothing quite like it.

Almost all my days are like that these days Vicki and I like it. Tomorrow I am going to lunch with four or five old friends from my work days back in 1986-98. I'm looking forward to seeing them again and the reminiscences. Your flowers are lovely today.
Low key is the best way to visit with old friends. Glad you had good weather and good wine to go with the good friendship.
