Natural Resilience

Knocked down years ago when the bulldozer carved out a road into our woods, this poplar responded by sending up a shoot that has grown into a new tree.

Of course there's a lesson in this but, as always, Shakespeare's been there already. I'll take the easy way out and quote from As You Like It, Act II, Scene 1)


And this our life exempt from public haunt,
Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in every thing.
I would not change it.

Now that is too cool!!! I love to walk in our woods and look for the interesting oddities ... I find them fasinating.
