Sue used to insist that cows on the ground meant rain. :)
I've heard (herd) that. Nonetheless, the ladies lie down several times a day to chew their cuds. And it may or may not rain.
Resting out of the sun, as any intelligent animal does. They look very content.
Smart to enjoy shade on hot days.
Cows have beautiful eyes. Studying your photos, it seems they are carefully positioned to be able to see both ahead and to the side, unlike some animals.
