I was just remembering living in Corpus Christi TX in the 60s while pregnant and we only had fans...even the car wasn't air conditioned. Boy am I spoiled these days with AC everything. That juicy apple does look delicious!
Barbara Rogers, I, too, was pregnant twice in summers in Cambridge MA, spent some nights lying on the floor in the downstairs front room, the bedroom was too hot. We now live in San Diego CA near the Pacific Coast, it's not hot often, we have fans, no AC.

That wasn't a complaint...it was just how people lived then!

I just noticed the dog! Ha. He looks exhausted too.
We don't have AC but multiple fans keep is fairly comfortable--as long as we don't try to do too much in mid day.
