Milkweed
And the happiest of birthdays to my first born! I will spare him the sentimental memories and pictures, but I will say that he has always been a joy to us.
In the Netherlands, it is (or at least was, in my youth) the custom on someone's birthday to give flowers to the mother, not just a gift to the child. I see these flowers in the library yard as nature's gift to you on your son's birthday.

There's a lot of milkweed growing in the flower bed in front of our fire station, on purpose I think. No flowers yet.
Any Monarchs on the milkweed, or are they all up this way right now?
These are at our library. alas, no Monarchs, nor any other butterflies when I was there.
A congrats to you for being birth giver of you son. Lovely plants waiting for monarch visit.
Happy birthday to the Skemp son!
Something that beautiful should not have the word 'weed' attached to it.
