And I'm Off . . .

Heading south today for a week at John C. Campbell Folk School followed by a very quick visit to my brother in Alabama.

I'm always of two minds about leaving home. One one hand, it's pleasant to have a change now and then but, on the other, think of all the stuff I'll miss -- like this handsome black snake that visited our greenhouse and left his shed skin behind.

And the clematis are just getting going good and the hollyhocks I started from seed last year are beginning to bloom . . .

and there are Great Spangled Fritillaries on the dog poo . . .

Ah well . . . While I'm away my internet access will be sketchy so if I don't post, that's why. I should be back on line by the 15th -- see you then!

We got home yesterday from a week away with no wifi. Hubby and daughter had a hard time, but I missed it a lot less than I thought I would. And yes, I spent a lot of time wondering what blooms I was missing at home and at what rate the weeds were growing. Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Vicki, I am sure that you and all those lucky folks at your workshop are going to have a great experience.

I recently read Graham Swift's Mothering Sunday and thought it a wonderful book about the emergence of a writer. I've already recommended it to some NYC writing friends.

Your beautiful flowers are so pretty and even that snake has a certain charm. Larry says they're not poisonous? Enjoy your trip.
