Out and About

Tuesday was gray and drizzly but I took my camera along on my trip to town.  I'm happy to report that the white goose down by the river still has lots of Canada geese to keep him company.
Just across the bridge is the annual Christmas display arranged by a fellow who lives nearby. It's a little different every year and it always makes me smile.
I thought of Merisi  and her lovely shots of Vienna as I took this last picture. The Madison County Courthouse dome lacks the elegance of Viennese architecture -- it also lacks its statue of Lady Justice -- removed (indefinitely) for repairs. Still, there is an angel to bless the scene.

Very nice idea. And you should bring your camera with you no matter where you go. You are talented.

Vicki - the roadside Christmas display makes me smile too!!! This is one of those ares in which I am firmly entrenched in the "to each his own" way of thinking.

That is quite the roadside display. I like it! I'm glad you had your camera with you to capture some of the true spirit of Christmas.

I love the spiralled Christmas Tree. I bet it all looks great in the dark. In Knoxville, they do something similar down by the lake, although I don't suppose it is a private venture. Those kinds of things look magical at night.
Just finished 'Old Wounds' last night. Loved it. My favourite so far.
Blessings, Star

It's eccentric but I like the roadside display; the man has spirit.

(And it's come - The Day of Small Things - so that will be my Christmas read on all those lovely days when I can lounge about and not work!)

Okay, I see a bear in a Santa suit, next to a blue jay, next to a pilgrim...and a white cat in there for good measure. I think this holiday display deserves a post all of its own - would the creator agree to an interview?

I'm growing attached to the white goose. Keep us posted!

I thought you were taking a long break. Glad I happened to drop by. Nice to catch up. One of my favorite things about Christmas is looking at the various neighborhood displays in the area. My favorite is a lighted Santa and Rudoph within the nativity, peering into the face of little Baby Jesus.

For some reason, the huge snow globes don't seem to be around much. I was always amazed at the varying contents and I do miss them.

I haven't quit posting, as you see, but I may not visit other blogs as regularly due to lack of time. I'll get around soon, though!
