Remember the banty hen and her one chick? She is trying very hard to cast off the mother/child relationship. That large white bird at the rear is the chick. The banty is the little one on the right, looking harried,

My kids outgrew me, too... but not quite THAT quick!
Ah family relationships! They are so silly and amazing aren't they?
Hard to imagine the little banty is mother to such a large bird. Wonder what size the egg was? Surely a bit larger than usual.
There's a country song in this somewhere. "Little mama run her big girl off and cried in the night missing her so." Oh well it's a start.
Chickens being what they are, it's totally possible that another (normal-sized) hen laid an egg in the banty's nest and it was the one that hatched.
Good start, Jim -- be sure to put in the part about the train.
Amazing. Mother nature certainly has a way of making her children grow up. Wonderful post! Have a grand day!
Vicki, this post and the prior comments are very amusing. I think that Jim definitely is on to something!
