After the Ball...

Sun and Rain and Wind -- all have had their way with the tree peonies,

Those brazen huzzies -- weary and bedraggled . . .

Silken finery, drooping, fading . . .

 Reduced to crimson tatters . . .

That linger briefly but, at last, must fall.

Tree peonies are ever so brave to appear so early in spring and the vagaries of spring weather all too often put a premature end to the show. They are such beauties while the last, even in their last moments before their petals lose hold and fall. You captured their fragility beautifully.

Have a joyful weekend!

Wow, that wind and rain beat the petals right off of them.

A little story in pictures! Such beauty. Its short life makes it more precious. Gorgeous, Vicki. (So is the one on your FB page today.)

What a lovely little peony essay. Spring must have arrived where you are, here it is soooo cold. Yesterday the wind was so strong and freezing. Today may be a better day and hopefully, it will warm up.

I'm not sure we have those over here Vicki. We do have Camellias, which look very similar. Mine is flowering right now, but if it rains, then the flowers may very well drop off. Love the colour of your tree peonies. Very pretty indeed.

Such a vision of color!

That's what you get for being blowsy in the Spring. I think the magnolia and camellias have gone the same way here, thanks to a sudden snowfall.
