Living in Middle Earth

Looking at the beauty surrounding us, I sometimes feel like the astronauts who looked back at the beautiful blue ball of Earth and wondered how something so lovely could contain so much suffering and hatred.

It's a wonderful view at all times, but the other morning when the sun broke through and set the yellow leaves 0f the river birch a-sparkle, it about took my breath away.

And I remembered the golden leaves of Tolkien's Mallorn trees in the magical place called Lothlorien.

Jenny likes the view too.

Your outlook does seem to be a bit magical.

The light coming at a lower angle certainly is casting brilliance on these wonderful last leaves! I keep trying to capture it with very poor results. Kudos to you for these magical views captured here.

I hope plenty of leaf peepers are coming through the mountains and spending money to help the local economy recovery after the horrific damage from Helene. The NC mountains are special to me.

Such beauty allows me, however briefly, to set aside my fear and anger over the precipice our country is cling to.

The low golden light is just magic when there are shimmery leaves still on the trees.
