A Thought

Okay, first of all I don't want a tombstone. But as I was paying bills yesterday, this caught my eye and out of nowhere came the thought-- How about a tombstone with the simple engraving: THIS STONE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK.

But if your reason for not wanting a tombstone is because you don't want to be buried, then why any stone? Have you heard of green burial by the way? Better for the environment that even cremation.

Actually, I'm content o leave the disposal details to my survivors--whatever's easiest and cheapest. Burial here on the farm is an option.

Like you, I may leave it up to others.

Jerry and I have both stated clearly in legal documents that we want to be cremated. Neither of us has any family that will take responsibility for carrying out our wishes, so our lawyer will do it.

As we go towards whatever demise we may have, my friends and I of a certain age sometimes talk about the inevitable. But I remember in school (maybe as a teen) being asked what we'd like on our headstone. Don't remember what I said. Another time we were asked to write our own obituaries. I love this choice!

I think this would be suitably enigmatic. It's rather fun to explore graveyards. You often find some quite quirky engravings.

I'm a great fan of old graveyards.
