John C. Campbell Folk School is set in a beautiful mountain valley in the little community of Brasstown. It's pretty idyllic. . .
There are rolling meadows . . .
and gorgeous, funky studios -- this is Blacksmithing . . .
There's entertainment every night . . .
and every morning.
Meandering walkways . . .
Mountain views . . .
Sun-dappled trees . . .
And in the midst of all this beauty, a hard-working group of writers.
Working their little fingers to the bone . . .
Inside . . .
and out, attempting to fulfill the arduous tasks set them by their cruel task mistress (not pictured.)
And into the woods, heading for lunch or supper.
Lots of photo ops . . .
Everywhere. . .
My friend and I share one of the bedrooms in the Log House.
And I carry my camera, grabbing pictures when I can.
There will be more tomorrow.

Sounds and looks great, Vicki. But that's the most unusual looking forge I've ever seen!
I was there about 12 years ago. I remember almost every second. The first time I saw Contra dancing. I took a photography course and we wandered through all the studios. The food was exceptional. Hope to return someday. Have a great week!

The blacksmithing shop is built next too and incorporates and old silo which was obviously the inspiration for the design. It's pretty incredible and I hear the inside is terrific. I'll try to get down there for more pictures.
The food is amazing. One lunch salad was lettuce from the garden, cucumbers, red pepper slivers, mandarin oranges, red onion slivers, and giant spicy-battered, fried shrimp! And they make all their bread. Oh, yum!
Where's that edit button? "Next to' and 'an old silo' dang it!
Oh my, for once I didn't have Vicki with breakfast, and look what I missed (deferred till lunch!) Thanks so much for sharing the beautiful pics of Campbell School grounds. Enjoy your time when you're not teaching, as well, that is.
