A Visit to Cherokee

In the Qualla Boundary -- the home of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation.

A perfect day with the autumn color at its peak.

This little cabin is just what I imagined for Maythorn's Cherokee grandmother
 in my book Old Wounds.

Notice the chimney's upper part made of sticks and mud.

It was a magical day in a magical place.

What a neat place! Did you go inside?

I will shoot a butterfly some day... I will shoot a butterfly some day...

I'm looking at that chimney and trying to imagine the conversations that may have taken place around the hearth.

Definitively a great place for inspiration.

How cool that you found Maythorn's grandmother's cabin. It's so nice when visions come true. Imagine what interesting stories were told in that house.

Your photos convey the magic of the place. I miss woods like that, we don't have them here.

Wonderful place ... ! And I sure wish that I could have a poster of the yellow flowers & butterfly -- WOW.

So happy to hear that your trip to California was delightful; awesome photo essay of the sea lions.

Having been away from your blog for a few weeks, I don't know if I'll ever catch up! LOL
