New Camera Therapy

My beloved Nikon D90 was in the truck when it rolled down the hill but, according to John, it seems to have escaped unharmed. Nonetheless, it's too unwieldy to have here at the rehab center and I've been suffering camera withdrawal so I ordered myself a little Sony DSC W800, as recommended by my photographer friend Cory.

I hadn't had time to figure out how to do more than turn it on when one of my nice Occupational Therapists offered to wheel me out to take some pictures of the rose bushes that I can see from my window -- just beyond the smoking area.

I have to find the online manual and spend a little more time figuring things out . . .

But it felt good to be outside and taking pictures again.

Some better than others . . . I need to pay attention to focus.

The lighting wasn't great . . .

And I kept inadvertently turning on the flash.

But I think I'm going to enjoy this tiny camera (remember, I don't have a smart phone) as a back up.

I was sorry when it was time to roll back to my room.

You did a great job! I don't have a smart phone either and when my regular camera is too bulky, I use my little one, that fits in my purse.

Lovely! It must have felt good to get outside and do something you love to do.

I don't have a smart phone either. Was yours just a causality of the accident?

We have a good compact camera too. I use it sometimes, but I find a DSLR easier.

Nope, I have a track phone and it survived.

What lovely photos with your new camera! I hope you have many more interesting focus-fun ones coming. The one with a big round orange ball in foreground couldn't be a rose-hips, could it? Very big! I don't know the difference between track phones and smart ones. I do know a flip phone still though, but have adjusted to an iPhone thanks to family members sharing the same plan.

Vicki, having that new little camera will certainly allow you to again enjoy taking photographs. It's grand that you had the assistance of the OT in getting closer to those flowers. It's grand that the flower garden exists! xo

Finally, a reason to be all right with this unseasonably warm weather. Vicki can get outside to take photographs. I'm sure it is a little bit liberating for you. And that makes me glad.

Oh, how well I understand camera deprivation! Just figuring out how to operate your new toy will keep you mentally engaged when you're not outside enjoying this unusually beautiful November weather. Sony makes wonderful cameras. I have 3 of their DSLRs. Haven't tried their compacts, but I'm sure they're top quality.

Photography is my 'go-to' activity in all moods. The necessary focus on the 'here-and-now' is very healing for me. What better than flowers for soothing the soul?

Hurrah for your new camera and wheeling out doors. Lovely pictures sooths the soul.
I have two Sony mirrorless cameras and did away with my CANON Dslrs. If you have internet check out Trey Ratciff's STUCK IN CUSTOMS web site. His photography inspires me.
