A perfect sky capture! Those clouds are downright scary. I rarely get any pictures while we are on the road cause I'm constantly reading in the car. Nature photographs are one of the perfect for keeping at wall.
It has been a great fall for color, hasn't it. Our area seems to be catching a second wind, with colors making a comeback after having flashed and faded. Jim
I totally forgot about the peepers and went downtown this morning to buy some cards. Couldn't find a parking space anywhere so I decided the cards from the grocery store would work just fine.
Just found your tonight and am looking forward to being a new follower. I hate that I have never read any of your writing but will soon correct that. I love books and reading is something I enjoy every night. Some day I hope to finish the book I started if only for myself Nice to meet you Maggie
Just got back from Grandfather Mtn....the leaves are gone up there...A little color on the parkway and in lower elevations there is still some color...Beautiful wherever you are in NC, in my opinion!
Vicki, I'm so down about having to leave on the 29th to be with my mother in Ga. while my sister-in-law has surgery. Darn it all. I'll have Chris hold out a book for you to sign for me.
I'm right proud of some of my leaf photos, too and may post a few more on Mountain Woman, sans commentary about them. Got em before the wind blew most of the leaves away.

I'm the author of The Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries from Bantam Dell. The series includes SIGNS IN THE BLOOD (LA MONTAGNE DES SECRETS in France), ART'S BLOOD, (LE SECRET DES APPALACHES in France,) OLD WOUNDS,IN A DARK SEASON (Anthony Nominee, Best PBO), and UNDER THE SKIN. There's also THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS (a spinoff/standalone)chronicling the unexpected life story of Miss Birdie, one of Elizabeth's neighbors.
I came to this weird business late (my first novel was published in 2005) and am still trying to figure it out.
As my novels are set in a place much like my real life home, I thought I'd use this blog to share pictures of our farm and county. I've been blogging for over four years now, on an almost daily basis, and the topics have ranged from writing, chickens, food, books, quilts, flora and fauna of all sorts, to the occasional tiny rant. There's no plan, but there are lots of pictures.
There's more information about me and my books on my web site: http://vickilanemysteries.com/

Purdy!
It's all so beautiful...but changing fast! So very different from your summer scenes.
Very beautiful!
PH 3:A new road for you !
I'm surprised at how many of your trees have already lost their leaves. Most around here are clinging on, determinedly.

Outstanding colors this year, although the winds have taken a lot of it away.

The colors this fall have been gorgeous, but the rain and wind are quickly taking them away over this way.
A friend rode his motorcycle on the "Tail of the Dragon" the other day and he said at 5,000 feet the leaves were all gone.

nice....went up flat top mountain the other day. hiked to the top and looked out at the quilt of leaves....lovely....

Beautiful! I can almost smell the crisp, cool autumn air.
The wonders of nature. Love your photos.
A landscape of different colors with each passing day.

It's nearly over.
Hard to believe that we were complaining about summer five minutes ago.
I too get out as often as I can to get my fil of colour.
