I can see a book with a collection of your gorgeous photographs in the future! I imagine leaving through it while having my first cup of tea, to begin the day with a positive outlook and feelings of gratitude and surrounded by beauty.
It is the small things we need to be grateful for, isn't it. This morning my daughter and I were admiring the frost outlining the fallen leaves and how beautiful they were.
Best you be gettin' ready for a BIG rainstorm tomorrow, though...! We already have a flash flood watch in effect for four counties here in WV. And perhaps even a few wayward flakes of snow over there in the mountains...!
I've just finished 'Art's Blood' too and last night I started 'Old Wounds'. What a pretty little steer. He's lovely. I always enjoy your pictures. The mist shows in the last one. Blessings, Sar

I'm the author of The Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries from Bantam Dell. The series includes SIGNS IN THE BLOOD (LA MONTAGNE DES SECRETS in France), ART'S BLOOD, (LE SECRET DES APPALACHES in France,) OLD WOUNDS,IN A DARK SEASON (Anthony Nominee, Best PBO), and UNDER THE SKIN. There's also THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS (a spinoff/standalone)chronicling the unexpected life story of Miss Birdie, one of Elizabeth's neighbors.
I came to this weird business late (my first novel was published in 2005) and am still trying to figure it out.
As my novels are set in a place much like my real life home, I thought I'd use this blog to share pictures of our farm and county. I've been blogging for over four years now, on an almost daily basis, and the topics have ranged from writing, chickens, food, books, quilts, flora and fauna of all sorts, to the occasional tiny rant. There's no plan, but there are lots of pictures.
There's more information about me and my books on my web site: http://vickilanemysteries.com/

Note to myself:
Leafing does not equal leaving.
It's so easy to overlook the small things in our lives. Yet, so often, they are the very things that hold it all together. Nice photographs, Vicki.
beautiful words of gratitude . I am just beginning Art's Blood! My summer reading just beginning and Art's Blood first on my list.
Little things, but great words and photos!
I love the rain drops on the violet pansy!
Your pictures always make me smile and sigh. The simple, little things are the best and you sure know how to capture them.
oh these are gorgeous pictures..what a beautiful world it is...

So glad you ladies in NZ are enjoying Elizabeth! I have a real feeling she'd love NZ!
I'm awaiting YOUR book, Merisi!
And Martin, of course, has already done one with beautiful words and images.
Oh, yes, Karen -- I love the frost-edged leaves!
Beatiful photos, especially the sturdy steer. It is important to appreciate the little things, thanks for the reminder.
What a handsome baby. I love the color of his coat.
Wonderful photos...love the capture of the web and the droplets on the pansy...so delicate...

My goodness...he's not such a little thing anymore, is he? What a beautiful animal.
The photographs are lovely.

Ohh, I've fallen in love with a chocolate brown calf with big soft eyes...
Oh, I want to rub that sturdy little steer's head and feel his fuzzy wuzzy coat. He's just going to be a family pet, right? :)
Elora -- It's dripping rain and the sky is ominous! Time to hunker down!
The steer is a Red Devon -- but alas, he's not going to be a pet, BB! This is a farm.
That little steer is a beauty. Thanks for the pie recipe. It looks wonderful!
