Forty-seven Years!

That's how long we've been married. We were high school sweethearts and, after three years of 'going steady,'  married while he was in the Marine Corps and I was still in college.

Good grief -- the mind boggles.
We have been incredibly blessed in our life ... and we'll celebrate this morning with the traditional Eggs Benedict and champagne. (The evening feast will have to wait till tomorrow as I have a class to teach tonight.)

Thank you, John, with all my heart, for all the years! The road goes ever on . . .

And for the other nice news -- of which I spoke yesterday -- check out this

Happy Anniversary Vicki and John! Hangin' in at 28 years here...yes, "ain't life grand"! Many happy years to come!

Congratulations!! Is there a story behind the eggs benedict, or does gooey delicious hollandaise speak for itself?

So, factoring in 3 years of dating, and not accounting for leap years, my very rough calculations show that you and John have spent approximately 18,250 days together. Pretty amazing! Here's to many more...can you believe that 50 is just around the corner?

Congratulations of both counts. Time does fly, doesn't it? Here's to many more years together, and more great reviews.

We would have been married 47 years as well if my husband was still with us. Time flies!

Congratulations! First on your anniversary, and second for the great review.

We celebrated our anniversary on November 6, although I must admit I did not make such a wonderful breakfast.

Congratulations!
A very "romantic" post and a lovely collage!

In, France, each year of one's marriage is associated to a flower, a precious stone, or a tissue:

47 ans de mariage= noces de cachemire

Is this kind of calendar also known in the USA?

Vicki, You certainly sound like you have had a wonderful life for the many years you have been married. It seems that folks that are childhood sweethearts have a good batting average of staying together in marriage. -- barbara

Thanks for all the kind wishes and comments yyet again! You all are wonderful!

Yes, the Hollandaise is the reason, Amelia. Any excuse...

Miss Yves -- We seem to have a different list over here. One that I found says that this is the book anniversary -- very fitting. Cashmere would be nice too...

Some years ago we bought a cattle trailer on our anniversary and my brother declared it the cattle trailer anniversary.

Belated congratulations on your anniversary. I know it sounds like you were married for a many years, but don’t you think the years went by very quickly? High school sweethearts – I like that. When I was growing up my father forbid me to have a boyfriend until I was 21, so I never had one….until then. So good that you celebrate with our famous sparkling wine from the French region of Champagne, just the thing for a nice anniversary toast.

I was very happy to read the report on your book in the LA Times, it’s great to be recognized like that – then again, it is quite deserved.
