Kids today! You can't tell them anything...

Once they figured out the bird feeder, they got no time for their old dad who wore himself to a frazzle bringing food when they were in the nest. Little ingrates.

And punk goldfinches! Don't get me started!

Snow Birds--Mostly Cardinals

Our bird feeders did a brisk business yesterday -- at one time I counted six male cardinals but could only get three in frame.

 All of these were taken through not-very-clean double pane windows. But it was way too cold to stay outside.  

The suet feeders were popular with the woodpeckers -- Downy or Hairy, I'm not sure which this was. There was a handsome Red Bellied one too but he was quite shy.

There were juncos and goldfinches, wrens, sparrows, and blue jays, along with this distant crow.

 But it was the cardinals that hogged the camera.

"It Snowed Like One Thing!"

"It snowed like one thing!" is something my neighbors might say. "Like one thing" means "a lot'" or whatever superlative fits the situation.

All day Friday it came down, wet and heavy. Tree branches bent and some snapped under the weight.

I was dodging in and ought, bringing in greenery to deck the stairs and trying to catch a few of our many cardinals and other birds being picturesque.
